Giving

It is our privilege at Barrel no. 51 to donate 25% of our profits to responsible, non-profit organizations dedicated to helping people in need.

The Crossing

crossing-photo-6.jpgcrossing-photo-5.jpgEvery town and city has those forgotten people that need a bit more help than most. We help support The Crossing, a ministry in Tacoma that offers spiritual guidance, clothing, food and shelter to those that are in need. One of the ministries that they offer is a mobile dental service, free of charge to the ones needing it. Barrel no.51 chooses to help The Crossing by donating products, time and money so that their ministry can continue.

Susan G. Komen Organization

susankomen-logo.gifSusan G. Komen for the Cure was estabished in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. It is a national organization with a network of volunteers working through local affiliates and Komen Race for the Cure® events fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screen, and treatment.

In our continuing efforts to be a benefit to our community, and in wanting to honor Sara's mom who passed away from cancer in 2005, we decided to specify that profits from all sales of our newest sauce, Lady J's Smokin' Chipotle Sandwich because of its reputation among the non-profit community, and because they give over 80% of each donated dollar to the research programs. That's important to us. We want the biggest bang for our buck and they do a terrific job of getting the money to where it does the most good. We encourage you to follow the link we've provided and making a generous donation to the cure.

Mary Bridge Children's Hospital

As our label states, we are concerned for the welfare of our children, everyone's child. That's why we support Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma. Many people donate to the Children's Miracle Network, thinking their donations remain in the community. But Mary Bridge isn't a part of that group, so they receive no funding from those donations. That's why we've specifically chosen Mary Bridge Children's Hospital because it benefits children in our own town. We are involved in a new program that's in the first stages of development at Mary Bridge, a program that will help combat childhood obesity. Obesity is a leading factor in children developing type II diabetes. 15% of America's children are considered obese, and 70% of them will carry that obesity into adulthood. Join Barrel no.51 in helping Mary Bridge fight this ever growing condition. Make a generous donation to the hospital today.
